About Me

Singer, Actor, Musician

Hi! I'm Laura (she/her)!

Currently based in New York City, my roots (and favorite foods) are in Cary, North Carolina, where I first fell in love with musical theatre while training at the NC Theatre Conservatory. I am now a proud graduate of NYU Steinhardt (B.M. Vocal Performance - Music Theatre concentration - with a minor in Educational Theatre, 2019).

Since graduating, I have been very fortunate to have worked with several up and coming musical theatre writers and directors, having performed in several new musicals throughout the city, including Sound of Recovery Music (written by Michael Roth), Tale of the Sackman (written/composed by Kay Clark & MandaLeigh Blunt), Crucible, PA (written/composed by Alex Shelbourne), Pride & Prejudice: A New Musical (written/composed by Annie Dillon & Sam Caps), and The Joe Hill Revival (written & composed by Dan Furman).

During my time at NYU, in addition to honing my performance and musicianship skills, I fell in love with arts education and music directing. This led me to begin working as both a visual arts instructor back home in NC and now a teaching artist with the Brooklyn Acting Lab here in the city, as well as serving as the music director for the Steinhardt Sings web series & live 54 Below concert and the associate music director for West 4th Stage Co.'s productions of Urinetown and Cry Baby. I also recently made my professional Music Directing debut working on the 2021 production of Pride & Prejudice: A New Musical with SheNYC Arts.

Besides my passion for theatre and arts education, I am also a huge lover of coffee, southern fast food chains, true crime podcasts (if you have any recommendations please send them my way!), and Disney's Hercules.

October 14-November 7, 2022: Impossible But True (Brooklyn Tavern Theatre)

I am ecstatic to be joining the 2022 cast of Dan Furman's Impossible But True, which will be performed at three different venues this fall.  You may recognize Dan's name from my most recent show, The Joe Hill Revival, and if you were lucky enough to see that show you know how brilliant of a writer and composer Dan is and how incredible Impossible But True will be. I will be playing the role of Rebecca Van Winkle, the spitfire and fiercely independent wife of the infamous titular short story character Rip Van Winkle. You can learn more about our venues and purchase tickets here, and I hope to see you there!

You can purchase tickets here (full vaccination required, 1 drink minimum).
